Coriant Showcases Programmable, Service-Aware Networking Solutions at Mobile World Congress 2015
Demonstrations Highlight Recent Advances in Smart Routing, Packet Optical Transport and Software Defined Networking (SDN) Optimized for Evolving Mobile Networks
NAPERVILLE, Illinois, 16 February 2015 – Coriant, a global supplier of end-to-end transport networking solutions, today announced that it will showcase the latest innovations in its SDN-enabled Smart Router and Packet Optical Transport Solutions portfolio at Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona from March 2-5. From service-aware mobile backhaul to the future-proof packet optical core, Coriant will demonstrate a broad range of advanced features and capabilities that help network operators realize the business value of intelligent, highly-programmable networks optimized for a new generation of dynamic services and applications.
"Our customers face formidable challenges as increased demand for bandwidth across the network compounds the ongoing imperative for reduced operational costs and complexity," said Pat DiPietro, Chief Executive Officer, Coriant. "We continue to advance our industry-leading portfolio of packet optical transport and edge routing solutions with software-defined and service-aware capabilities specifically designed to enhance service performance in mobile and fixed line applications while simplifying operations."
Demonstration highlights at the Coriant MWC Exhibit Booth (Hall 2, Stand 2I30) will include:
- First to Extend Self-Organizing Networks (SON) to Mobile Backhaul with SDN: Coriant and Nokia Networks team up to demonstrate the world's first extension of SDN/SON to mobile backhaul. This demonstration shows how advanced analytics and Software Defined Networking (SDN) work together to create programmable, self-aware networks that assure an optimal end-to-end service experience.
- SDN-enabled, End-to-End Packet Optical Transport Innovation: Leveraging dynamic network control via the Coriant Transcend™ SDN Solution and Coriant® Transport Network Management System (TNMS), Coriant will showcase advanced transport applications including Network as a Service (NaaS), Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC), and multi-tenant connectivity. Coriant solution highlights in this area include the Coriant® mTera™ Universal Transport Platform, the Coriant® hiT 7300 Multi-Haul Transport Platform, the Coriant® 7100 Nano™ Packet Optical Transport Platform, and the Coriant® 7090 Packet Transport Platform.
- Advanced Service-Oriented Mobile Networking: Powered by the SDN-enabled Coriant® 8600 Smart Router Series, this demonstration features new opportunities to improve network resource utilization using flexible Layer 4-7 flow-forwarding and load balancing capabilities enabled by SDN control.
- LTE-Optimized Mobile Backhaul: Coriant will also showcase recent enhancements to its scalable, end-to-end portfolio of IP/MPLS edge routing solutions, including the Coriant® 8665, 8615 and 8602 Smart Routers. Designed to address a broad range of packet-based mobile backhaul hardened small cell and FMC applications, these power-efficient, multi-layer solutions provide the cost-effective foundation for seamless and pragmatic evolution of mobile backhaul networks.
