REDCA Scales Pan-Regional Broadband Transport Network with Coriant 100G Optical Transport Solution
Coriant® hiT 7300 Multi-Haul Transport Platform Forms the Flexible and Reliable Foundation for Carrier's Carrier Services Spanning Central America
NAPERVILLE, Illinois, 10 March 2016 – Coriant, a global supplier of SDN-enabled end-to-end transport networking solutions, today announced that Red Centroamericana de Telecomunicaciones (REDCA), a provider of carrier neutral telecommunications services in Central America, has deployed the Coriant® hiT 7300 Multi-Haul Transport Platform to cost-efficiently scale its regional transport network and support the flexible and reliable delivery of a broad range of carrier-class services, including wavelength, Carrier Ethernet, Points of Presence (POP) inter-connectivity, and cloud computing services.
REDCA is a private company that was created under the Panama's Law to operate and market the Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) fiber installed on SIEPAC's cable (Sistema de Interconexión Eléctrica de los Países de América Central). Providing coverage of over 2,150 kilometers and scalability to 1 Tbps and beyond, the Coriant hiT 7300 solution is part of REDCA's end-to-end DWDM transport network built along the SIEPAC infrastructure, an interconnection of the power grids of Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. The Coriant solution offering includes a range of world-class support services designed for rapid network deployment and always-on service availability.
"We are pleased to support REDCA as it expands the capabilities of its regional transport network and enhances the performance of its carrier-class services," said Alberto Barriento, Regional Vice President, Latin America, Coriant. "With best-in-class technology from Coriant, REDCA is creating a truly innovative telecommunications infrastructure that will have a significant impact on the economic, social, and technological growth of the region."
The hiT 7300 is an industry-leading coherent optical communications system that supports the secure and reliable transmission of 100G+ per channel. The hiT 7300 achieves a total system capacity of up to 9.6 Tbps per fiber pair via 96 x 100G channels, and is designed to support up to 25.6 Tbps when using advanced flexi-rate, flexi-grid, and super-channel capabilities powered by Coriant CloudWave™ Optics. The high-density, low latency hiT 7300 solution enables REDCA to fully maximize utilization of its fiber infrastructure while providing the resilient foundation for future scalability as demand for backbone capacity grows over time. Management of REDCA's pan-region DWDM network is supported by the Coriant® Transport Network Management System (TNMS), an end-to-end management platform that enables REDCA to accelerate service provisioning and reduce operating expenses.
The hiT 7300 is a key component of the Coriant Dynamic Optical Cloud™ Solution, which combines a flexible transport infrastructure, dynamic network control based on the Coriant Transcend™ SDN Solution, and integrated network planning to create a powerful toolkit for multi-layer network efficiencies and next-generation service innovation in a new networked world.
